Superannuation Reform

The Government’s proposed changes to the superannuation system are now Law.
These include the $1.6M transfer cap for funds in pension phase and cuts to both the concessional and non-concessional contributions caps. But from 1st July 2017, wage earners will be able to claim a deduction for super contributions.

Scam Watch

The ATO is reminding Australians to be wary of potential scams at tax time. The ATO do not make threatening phone calls, etc and when they do call, no phone number will appear on your caller ID. If in doubt, hang up and call the ATO directly.


BAS time again

It is now time to prepare BAS for the June 2017 quarter, which are due for lodgement on 28th July (unless you are on our lodgement list in which case you can be eligible for an additional four weeks to lodge). Please contact our office to organise this work.


Small Business assistance

The $20,000 instant asset write off for small businesses has been extended for an extra year up to 30th June 2018 and the threshold to be eligible has been increased from $2M to $10M annual turnover. The company tax rate has been reduced to 27.5%.
